A new adaptive recursive RLS-based fast-array IIR filter for active noise and vibration control systems

چکیده
Infinite impulse response filters have not been used extensively in active noise and vibration control applications. The problems are mainly due to the multimodal error surface and instability of adaptive IIR filters used in such applications. Considering these, in this paper a new adaptive recursive RLS-based fast-array IIR filter for active noise and vibration control applications is proposed. At first an RLS-based adaptive IIR filter with computational complexity of order O(n) is derived, and a sufficient condition for its stability is proposed by applying passivity theorem on the equivalent feedback representation of this adaptive algorithm. In the second step, to reduce the computational complexity of the algorithm to the order of O(n) as well as to improve its numerical stability, a fast array implementation of this adaptive IIR filter is derived. This is accomplished by extending the existing results of fast-array implementation of adaptive FIR filters to adaptive IIR filters. Comparison of the performance of the fastarray algorithm with that of Erikson’s FuLMS and SHARF algorithms confirms that the proposed algorithm has faster convergence rate and ability to reach a lower minimum mean square error which is of great importance in active noise and vibration control applications. & 2010 Elsevier B.V. Fast-Array Adaptive IIR Filter for Active Noise and Vibration Control Systems
Abstract: In this paper an RLS-based adaptive controller for active noise and vibration control systems is presented. This adaptive controller is designed based on feed-forward architecture and uses IIR filter as the control filter. Because the derived algorithm for ANVC systems is based on RLS recursion, its computational complexity is of order ) ( 2 n O which is too high for real-time impleme...
متن کاملA New Adaptive Extended Kalman Filter for a Class of Nonlinear Systems
This paper proposes a new adaptive extended Kalman filter (AEKF) for a class of nonlinear systems perturbed by noise which is not necessarily additive. The proposed filter is adaptive against the uncertainty in the process and measurement noise covariances. This is accomplished by deriving two recursive updating rules for the noise covariances, these rules are easy to implement and reduce the n...
متن کاملA fast-array Kalman filter solution to active noise control
A Kalman filter solution to active control and its fast-array implementation are provided. The adaptive control problem is formulated as a state-estimation problem and no interchanging of the adaptive filter and the secondary-path is imposed. Moreover, no estimate of the disturbance signal is needed, and we exploit the structure in the state–space matrices to derive a fast-array implementation....
متن کاملAn Adaptive Self-adjusting Bandwidth Bandpass Filter without IIR Bias
In this paper we introduce a simple, computationally inxepentsive, adaptive recursive structure for enhancing bandpass signals highly corrupted by broad-band noise. This adaptive algorithm, enhancing input signals, enables us to estimate the center frequency and the bandwidth of the input signal. In addition, an important feature of the proposed structure is that the conventional bias existing ...
متن کاملAdaptive Line Enhancement Using a Parallel IIR Filter with A Step-By-step Algorithm
A step-by-step algorithm for enhancement of periodic signals that are highly corrupted by additive uncorrelated white gausian noise is proposed. In each adaptation step a new parallel second-order section is added to the previous filters. Every section has only one adjustable parameter, i.e., the center frequency of the self-tuning filter. The bandwidth and the convergence factor of each secti...
